WALESKA, Ga. - The ball did not bounce in Reinhardt's favor on Saturday as the 18th-ranked Eagles fell 55-7 at St. Thomas (Fla.) in the first round of the 2023 NAIA Football Championship Series.
No. 15 St. Thomas hosted the game in Miami Gardens, Fla.
A pair of field goals gave St. Thomas a 6-0 lead after the first quarter, but then the Bobcats posted 22 points in the second for a 28-0 halftime lead.
Reinhardt finally scored in the third on an 18-yard pass to Tremain Demps from Stephen Craig but trailed 35-7 going into the fourth. The Bobcats added 20 points in the final frame to secure the postseason win.
Craig completed 9-of-19 passes for 85 yards while Taylor Jackson went 4-for-6 for 83 yards. David Friedberg caught two passes for 60 yards, and Demps finished with three receptions for 54 yards and a score.
Reinhardt finishes the season at 8-3 overall.
