WALESKA, Ga. - Lee Kirkland of Pikeville is the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Football Offensive Player of the Week, while Keon McGhee1920 of Reinhardt and Jakob Headley of Pikeville are the Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively.

The league announced the awards on Monday.

This is the ninth edition of the awards for the 2023 season. The next set of awards will be announced on Oct. 30.

AAC Defensive Player of the Week
Keon McGhee - Reinhardt - Junior - Monroe, Ga.

  • Recorded 5 total tackles (4 solo) in a 44-17 win over Point.
  • Had 0.5 tackles for a loss of 2 yards.
  • Broke up 2 passes.
  • This is his first weekly honor of the season.

AAC Offensive Player of the Week
 Lee Kirkland - Pikeville - Senior - Bluffton, S.C.

  • Had 4 passing touchdowns in Pikeville's 51-42 win over Bluefield.
  • Completed 26-of-34 passes for 306 yards.
  • Had TD passes of 25, 19, 24, and 6 yards.
  • Rushed for 25 yards on 12 carries.
  • This is his third weekly honor of the season.

AAC Special Teams Player of the Week
Jakob Headley - Pikeville - Senior - Auxier, Ky.

  • Went 6-fort-7 on PATs in the 51-42 win over Bluefield.
  • Is 36-for-38 on PATs this season.
  • Added a 24-yard field goal to give him 9 points in the game.
  • This is his fifth weekly honor of the season.
