WinWon Women's Volleyball Tournament Opens With a Pair of Sweeps

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The 2024 WinWon Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Volleyball Tournament got underway on Thursday with some broom action as both first-round matches were sweeps.

The tournament is being held at the MeadowView Marriott Conference Resort & Convention Center in Kingsport, Tenn., and WinWon is the title sponsor for the three-day event.

In the opening match, No. 7 Pikeville fended off a pesky No. 10 Tennessee Wesleyan to win 25-15, 25-23, 25-22. Olivia Chapman had a solid all-around game for the Bears as she produced 14 kills, eight digs, and five blocks.

No. 8 Truett McConnell came out strong in the first set of its match, winning 25-9 en route to the sweep of No. 9 Montreat. Jordan Roberts logged nine kills to lead the Bears with Emma Boland adding 16 assists and five aces.

Play resumes on Friday with Truett McConnell starting the day off against No. 1 Columbia International at 11 am.
