2024 WinWon AAC Women's Volleyball Awards Announced
WALESKA, Ga. - The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) announced the 2024 WinWon Women's Volleyball All-AAC Team and Awards on Wednesday.
Raquel Kessler of Union Commonwealth is the Player of the Year, while Ashlynn Barnes of Reinhardt is the Setter of the Year, and Silvia Aguado of Reinhardt is the Defender of the Year and the Freshman of the Year. Tessa Corrales of Reinhardt is the Coach of the Year, and Donnie Vannoy of Johnson is the Assistant Coach of the Year.
The awards were voted on and selected by the women's volleyball coaches of the AAC.
In 19 conference matches, Kessler led the AAC in total kills (269) and kills per set (3.96). She was third in blocks per set (1.07) and fifth in total blocks (73), while also collecting 225 digs.
Barnes posted a league-best 11.14 assists per set, playing in 20 conference matches. She finished with 724 total assists in conference play and led the AAC in service aces (34). Barnes also collected 168 digs and 18 total blocks in conference action.
Aguado led the league in digs per set, averaging 6.42 in 20 conference matches, and she was third in total digs (411). Aguado also tallied 23 service aces and 56 assists.
Corrales guided Reinhardt to an 18-2 league record to earn the Eagles the No. 2 seed in the tournament.
Vannoy has served admirably this season for Johnson, helping it a fourth-place showing in the regular season with a 16-5 conference mark.
Fourteen players earned a spot on the All-AAC First Team with 14 making the second team. In addition, six players make up the All-Freshmen Team. Dozens of players made the grade to earn a spot on the All-Academic Team, while 12 were named to the Champions of Character Team.
