WALESKA, Ga. - Raquel Kessler of Union is the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Volleyball Attacker of the Week, while Ella Maiden of Milligan and Rylee Simpson of Truett McConnell are the Defender and Setter of the Week, respectively.

The league announced the awards on Monday.

This is the eighth edition of the awards for the 2022 season. The next set of awards will be announced on Oct. 23.

AAC Attacker of the Week
Raquel Kessler - Union - Senior - Jackson Center, Ohio.

  • Averaged 4.38 kills per set and posted a .458 hitting percentage as Union went 1-2 for the week.
  • Logged 23 kills in a 3-2 loss against Bluefield.
  • Had 20 kills in a 3-2 loss to Truett McConnell.
  • Had 57 kills, 12 digs, 3 aces, and 9 blocks.
  • This is her first weekly honor of the season.

AAC Defender of the Week
Ella Maiden - Milligan - Junior - Damascus, Va.

  • Averaged 1.64 blocks per set as Milligan went 3-0 on the week.
  • Recorded 11 blocks in a 3-2 win over Bryan.
  • Finished with 18 blocks, 26 kills, and 6 digs.
  • This is her second weekly honor of the season.

AAC Setter of the Week
Rylee Simpson - Truett McConnell - Freshman - Inman, S.C.

  • Averaged 10.54 assists per set as Truett McConnell went 3-0 on the week.
  • Posted a high of 52 assists in a 3-1 win at Johnson.
  • Had 137 assists in 13 sets.
  • Also had 6 kills, 3 service aces, 23 digs, and 1 block on the week.
  • This is her third weekly honor of the season.
