Montreat Repeats as AAC Women's Tennis Tournament Champs
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Top-seeded Montreat registered a 4-1 victory over No. 2 seed Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday to win the 2022 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Tennis Tournament championship.
The tournament was held at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Tennessee Wesleyan grabbed the early advantage by winning the doubles point as it won the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches by the scores of 7-5 and 6-1, respectively.
However, Montreat flexed its muscles in the singles play as the Cavaliers collected points at No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 singles.
This is the second year in a row Montreat captured the tournament title.
With the win, Montreat earned an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championship Tournament, which is set for May 17-21 in Mobile, Ala.
