Milligan Collects 2024 Women's Swimming Championship

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - Milligan captured its third consecutive Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Swimming Championship, finishing with 957 total points.

The three-day event is being held in Kingsport, Tenn. at the Kingsport Aquatic Center in the HMG Competition Pool.

The Buffaloes also won all six of the women's events on Saturday with three records either set or tied.

Rounding out the team scores, Brenau finished second with 465 points, Union third with 422 points, and Columbia fourth with 298 points. WVU Tech (233) and Pikeville (29) completed the field.

Riley Renaud of Milligan is the Women's Swimmer of the Meet, Emma Phillips of Union is the Women's Freshman of the Year, and Spencer Scarth of Milligan is the Coach of the Year.

Hanne te Velthuis tied the meet record in the 100 freestyle, equaling the mark set by Jessica Axford of Union in 2019 at 51.76 seconds. Riley Renaud of Milligan set the meet record in the 1650 freestyle, finishing in 17:25.09. The Milligan 400 freestyle relay team set the final record of the day as Liz Mahan, Gabby MacPherson, Samantha van Vuure, and te Velthuis won with the time of 3:33.85.

  • 200 Breaststroke - Kaylee Williams (Milligan), 2:23.83
  • 200 Butterfly - Mary Grace Bitting (Milligan), 2:07.67
