Back-To-Back: Milligan Repeats as Women's Swimming Champion

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - Milligan coasted to the 2023 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Swimming and Diving Championship on Saturday.

The three-day event was held at the Kingsport Aquatic Center in the HMG Competition Pool in Kingsport, Tenn.

This is Milligan's second consecutive women's swimming championship.

Riley Renaud of Milligan was named the 2022-23 AAC Freshman of the Year and the 2022-23 AAC Swimmer of the Year. Spencer Scarth of Milligan is the AAC Coach of the Year.

Milligan amassed 1,057 total points to claim the title. WVU Tech was second with 511 points.

Four records were were set. There were:

  • 1650 Free - Riley Renaud (Milligan), 17:29.07;
  • 200 Breast - Kaylee Williams (Milligan), 2:22.92;
  • 200 Fly - Gabby MacPherson (Milligan), 2:06.43;
  • 400 Free Relay - Milligan (Liz Mahan, Mary Grace Bitting, Gabby MacPherson, Samantha van Vuure), 3:35.18.

Here are the rest of Saturday's winners:

  • 200 Back - Samantha van Vuure (Milligan), 2:06.09;
  • 100 Free - Ana Noguera Munoz (WVU Tech), 54.61;
