AAC Women's Soccer Awards Announced
WALESKA, Ga. - The Appalachian Athletic Conference announced the 2024 Women's Soccer All-AAC Team and Awards on Thursday.
Eliska Dvorakova of Truett McConnell is the Player of the Year and the Offensive Player of the Year, Natascha Frei of Tennessee Wesleyan and Ella Weir of Truett McConnell are the Co-Defensive Players of the Year, Malia Kincaid of Columbia is the Freshman of the Year, Krista Eik Hardardottir of Tennessee Wesleyan is the Golden Boot winner, and Kortney Johnson of Johnson is the Coach of the Year.
The awards were voted on and selected by the women's soccer coaches of the AAC.
Dvorakova tallied 20 goals on the year while dishing out nine assists. She ranks third in the AAC in points with 49.
Frei and Weir, both defenders, helped their respective teams in creating strong defensive fronts. Tennessee Wesleyan recorded 11 shutouts on the season and allowed 0.53 goals per game. Truett McConnell, meanwhile, posted 13 shutouts and a 0.74 goals-against average.
Kincaid finished fourth in the conference in goals (14) and fifth in points (30).
Eik Hardardottir was a scoring machine, tallying 26 goals overall and a league-leading 22 goals in conference play.
Johnson took over the reins for the Royals as head coach Todd Halliburton recovered from a medical issue. She led the team to the No. 5 seed in the conference with a 7-2-4 league mark and to an 8-3-6 overall record.
Fourteen players earned a spot on the All-AAC First Team with 14 making the second team. Dozens of players made the grade to earn a spot on the All-Academic Team, while 11 were named to the Champions of Character Team.
