CIU Scores Lone Upset of Women's Soccer Quarterfinal Round
WALESKA, Ga. - Fifth-seeded Columbia International registered the only upset of the 2023 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Soccer Tournament quarterfinal round, scoring a 2-1, double-overtime win over No. 4 seed Montreat on Saturday.
Marisa Dill netted the game-winner in the 96th to send CIU to the semifinal round.
The Rams will face top-seeded Truett McConnell, who defeated No. 9 seed Brenau 3-1. Eliska Dvorakova scored the game-winner and had two assists in the win.
Tennessee Wesleyan got two goals and an assist from Krista Eik Hardardottir as the No. 2 seed downed seventh-seeded Milligan 5-0.
No. 3 seed Reinhardt received two goals from both Lidia Herrera and Kennedy Vinyard to defeat No. 6 Columbia 4-0.
The semifinal round is set to be played on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
