Week 5: AAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week
WALESKA, Ga. - Kaitlyn Pope and Cristina Escrig of Tennessee Wesleyan are the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Soccer Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
This is the first edition of the awards for the 2023 season. The next set of awards will be announced on Oct. 2.
AAC Defensive Player of the Week
Kaitlyn Pope - Johnson - Sophomore - Chattanooga, Tenn.
- Had 9 saves on the week in helping Johnson post 2 shutouts.
- The wins were the first of the season for Johnson.
- Had 7 saves in a 3-0 win over Union.
- Recorded 2 saves in a 2-0 win over St. Andrews.
- This is her first weekly honor of the season.
AAC Offensive Player of the Week
Cristina Escrig - Tennessee Wesleyan - Senior - Valencia, Spain
- Tallied 14 points on the week as Tennessee Wesleyan went 2-0 on the week.
- Amassed 3 goals and 4 assists in a win over Kentucky Christian.
- Added 2 more goals in a win against Bluefield.
- This is her first weekly honor of the season.
