ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Both Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) teams in the NAIA Women's Soccer Opening Round final round came up just short on Saturday.
Reinhardt lost 3-0 to William Carey (Miss.) in the Hattiesburg (Miss.) Bracket, while Truett McConnell fell 2-1 in overtime to Spring Arbor in the Spring Arbor (Mich.) Bracket.
William Carey scored a goal in the 24th minute and added a pair of tallies in the second half to lock up the 3-0 win. Reinhardt had two shots on goal in the loss. Caroline Johnson recorded nine saves for the Lady Eagles.
After an own goal gave Spring Arbor the lead in the 16th minute, Hannah Logue collected the equalizer in the 29th minute. It remained deadlocked at the end of regulation, requiring an extra period. Spring Arbor broke through with a goal in the 97th minute to advance to the next round. Emelie Taylor recorded 13 saves for the Lady Bears.
