Reinhardt, Truett McConnell Advance in the NAIA Opening Round

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Both Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) teams advanced in the NAIA Women's Soccer Opening round with Truett McConnell and Reinhardt picking up victories.

In the Spring Arbor (Mich.) Bracket, Truett McConnell fell behind early but powered its way back for a 5-2 win over No. 2 seed Campbellsville (Ky.). The Tigers scored in the ninth minute for a 1-0 lead, but goals from Eliska Dvorakova and Hannah Logue lifted the Lady Bears to a 2-1 halftime lead. It remained a one-goal game until the final seven minutes of the game as the teams combined for four goals. Logue scored her second to make it 3-1 Truett McConnell in the 84th minute, but Campbellsville scored in the 85th minute to cut the margin to 3-2. However, Sydney League and Dvorakova scored four seconds apart in the 89th minute to seal the 5-2 win.

Third-seeded Truett McConnell will now face No. 1 seed Spring Arbor at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday for the right to advance to the final site.

At the Hattiesburg (Miss.) Bracket, Reinhardt netted an overtime winner to move past No. 2 seed Missouri Valley 3-2. Knotted at 2-all, Kerstyn Thomas found the back of the net in the 97th minute to send the Lady Eagles on to the next round. Marta Vicente-Arche and Kalyn Donegan each scored for Reinhardt, while Ryelyn Wells dished out two assists for Reinhardt.

No. 3 seed Reinhardt takes on No. 1 seed William Carey (Miss.) on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday. The winner advances to the final site.
