Reinhardt Holds on to Win Women's Lacrosse Tournament

WALESKA, Ga. - It was a battle during the regular season, and it proved to be another one in the 2023 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Lacrosse Tournament championship match. But unlike during the regular season, Reinhardt came out on top as it defeated top-seeded Cumberlands 14-13 on Saturday to win the tournament crown.

The three-day tournament was held at Reinhardt in Waleska, Ga.

No. 2 seed Reinhardt built an 8-4 lead by halftime but had to fend off Cumberlands throughout the second half. The Patriots cut the margin to one twice during the final four minutes of the game but could not find the equalizer as Reinhardt repeated as the tournament champs.

Madison Hasty of Reinhardt recorded 17 saves in the title match to earn Tournament MVP honors. Joining her on the All-Tournament Team are Mia Griswold, Shelby O'Neil, and Jillian Mello of Reinhardt; Olivia McCarrell, Bella Ricchiazzi, and Aleyah Belton of Cumberlands; Jesse Vazzana and Katerina Gilbert of Georgetown; and Olivia Ritter and Mac Alexander of Tennessee Wesleyan.

With the tournament win, Reinhardt receives an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championship Tournament, which is set for May 3-6 2023 in Southfield, Mich.
