Georgetown, Tennessee Wesleyan Advance in Women's Lacrosse Tournament

WALESKA, Ga. - Tennessee Wesleyan scored the only upset in the opening round of the 2023 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Thursday as the fifth-seeded squad bested No. 4 seed Montreat 19-9.

No. 3 seed Georgetown also won, defeating No. 6 seed Truett McConnell 27-3.

The tournament is being held on the campus of Reinhardt in Waleska, Ga.

Olivia Ritter and Olivian Downey each netted four goals in helping Tennessee Wesleyan to the win. The Bulldogs scored 14 first-half goals to propel themselves to decisive victory.

In the other opening-round game, Katerina Gilbert notched nine goals and dished out four assists as Georgetown rolled to the 24-goal win. The Tigers scored 15 first-half goals.
