TWU, Milligan to Meet for Women's Basketball Tournament Title
KINGSPORT, Tenn. - Cinderella still has her dancing shoes on as No. 7 Tennessee Wesleyan pulled off another upset, downing third-seeded Reinhardt 88-69 in the semifinal round of the 2025 WinWon Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Basketball Tournament on Friday.
The tournament is being played at the MeadowView Marriott Convention Center & Conference Resort in Kingsport, Tenn.
Tennessee Wesleyan will take on No. 1 Milligan in the championship game on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET. The Buffaloes dispatched No. 4 Pikeville 82-54 earlier on Friday.
Tennessee Wesleyan scorched the nets from long range, hitting 12-of-18 3-pointers in the first half in building a 47-31 lead. The Bulldogs finished the game 18-of-29 from behind the arc. Tennessee Wesleyan shot 62.1 percent from 3-point range while making only 50.9 percent from anywhere on the floor.
Abbey Barr led Tennessee Wesleyan in scoring, going 5-for-5 from 3-point land and 6-for-6 overall for 17 points. Jalaya Lindsey added 14 points, and Jacelyn Stone chipped in 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Milligan outscored Pikeville 31-10 in the third quarter to break the game wide open. Jaycie Jenkins led the way with 24 points and 11 rebounds, with Semaj Clark helping out with 18 points, 17 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Milligan is looking for its first women's basketball tournament title in over two decades, while Tennessee Wesleyan last won it in 2016.
