Milligan Collects 2023 Men's Cross Country Championship

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - With its top five runners finishing among the first nine spots, Milligan won the 2023 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Cross Country championship on Friday.

The 8K race was held at Sequoyah Park in Knoxville, Tenn.

Three of the top five runners were Buffaloes as they recorded a winning score of 25. Montreat had runners finish third, fourth, and seventh in tallying 44 points to claim second place.

Bryan (106), SCAD Atlanta (108), and Tennessee Wesleyan (136) round out the top five in the team competition.

For the second year in a row, Bryn Woodall of Milligan won the race. The junior finished with a time of 24:03.3. He crossed the line nearly 8 seconds faster than second-place and teammate Will Stockley.

By virtue of winning the race, Woodall is the Runner of the Year. Joining him on the All-AAC First Team are Stockley, Dylan Branch of Montreat, Ethan Stamey of Montreat, Aaron Jones of Milligan, Edimo Nintereste of Bryan, and Nathan Stamey.

Earning All-AAC Second Team honors are Zimri Kuhn of Milligan, Bryson Lewis of Milligan, Alex Brittain of Milligan, Eli Cox of Tennessee Wesleyan, Trent Wells of SCAD Atlanta, Caleb Wright of Montreat, and Joshua Hale of Milligan.

Nintereste is the Freshman of the Year as he was the highest-placing freshman. Joining him on the All-Freshman Team are Lewis, Connor Vanderkolk of Milligan, Eli Moran of Bryan, Philip Riddle of Montreat, Aaron Retana of Montreat, and Cayden Chance of Columbia.

The Milligan coaching staff was named the Staff of the Year.
