Milligan Captures 2022 Men's Cross Country Championship
WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. - Milligan claimed five of the top eight places to claim the 2022 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Cross Country Championship on Friday.
The meet was hosted by Columbia at the Par Tee Golf Club in West Columbia, S.C.
Milligan claimed the top three places in the 8K with Bryan Woodall breaking the tape in 24:26.2.
The Buffaloes amassed 20 points to take the top prize, while Montreat came in second with 44 points.
Rounding out the top five were SCAD Atlanta (86 points), Reinhardt (109 points), and Bryan (152 points).
Woodall earned Runner of the Year. He is joined on the All-AAC First Team by Will Stockley of Milligan, Aaron Jones of Milligan, Dylan Branch of Montreat, Ethan Stamey of Montreat, Alex Brittain of Milligan, and Nathan Stamey of Montreat.
Making the second team are Zimri Kuhn of Milligan, Dawson Reed of Milligan, Jake Crow of Milligan, Chris Levario of SCAD Atlanta, Salvador Castillo of Reinhardt, Caleb Wright of Montreat, and Trett Wells of SCAD Atlanta.
Well earned Freshman of the Year accolades and joining him on the All-Freshmen Team are Dillion Craig of Milligan, Caleb Greene of Tennessee Wesleyan, Cormic Dow of SCAD Atlanta, William Karim of SCAD Atlanta, Kaden Reeder of Columbia, Oska Gobin of Montreat.
Chris Layne of Milligan was named the Coach of the Year.
Both Milligan and Montreat earned automatic berths to the 2022 NAIA National Championship Meet, which is set for Nov. 18 in Tallahasse, Fla. Qualifying as individuals for the national meet are Levario, Castillo, Wells, Bryce Derick of SCAD Atlanta, Tom Vincent of Reinhardt, and Jackson Hughes of Bryan.
