WALESKA, Ga. - Hazem Abdelghafar of St. Andrews is the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Volleyball Attacker of the Week, while Jeremy Ferreira of Life and Dakota Hotaling of St. Andrews are the Defender and Setter of the Week, respectively.

The league announced the awards on Monday.

This is the seventh edition of the awards for the 2024 season. The next set of awards will be announced on April 1.

AAC Attacker of the Week
Hazem Abdelghafar - St. Andrews - St. Andrews - Cairo, Egypt

  • Helped St. Andrews to a 2-0 record.
  • Averaged 5.71 kills per set and posted a .346 hitting percentage.
  • Posted a high of 22 kills in a 3-1 win over Carolina University (N.C.).
  • Had 40 kills, 1 assist, 14 digs, and 3 blocks.
  • This is his second weekly honor of the season.

AAC Defender of the Week
Jeremy Ferreira - Life - Freshman - Miami, Fla.

  • Averaged 1.40 blocks per set in helping Life to a 2-2 record.
  • Posted 6 blocks in a match twice - once in a 3-2 loss to Campbellsville and again in a 3-1 loss to Webber.
  • Tallied 21 blocks and 2 digs.
  • Also had 24 kills and a .606 hitting percentage.
  • This is his first weekly honor of the season.

AAC Setter of the Week
Dakota Hotaling - St. Andrews - Graduate Student - Center Moriches, N.Y.

  • Posted 42 assists in a 3-1 win over Truett McConnell.
  • Recorded a double-double against Truett McConnell as he also had 10 digs.
  • Averaged 9.38 assists per set.
  • Had 75 assists, 4 aces, 12 digs, and 3 kills.
  • This is his third weekly honor of the season.
