Week 3: AAC Men's Outdoor Athletes of the Week

WALESKA, Ga. - Deandre Leith of Columbia International and Wyatt Wilson of Montreat are the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Outdoor Field and Track Athletes of the Week, the league announced Monday.

This is the third edition of the weekly honors for the 2024 season. The next set of awards will be announced on April 1.

AAC Field Athlete of the Week

Deandre Leith - Columbia International - Junior - Kingston, Jamaica

  • Recorded 2 NAIA 'A' Standards at the Weems Baskin Invite.
  • Placed second in the shot put with a throw of 16.11 meters.
  • Finished seventh in the discus with a distance of 50.29 meters.
  • Ranks fourth in the NAIA in the shot put and third in the NAIA in the discus.
  • This is his first weekly honor this season.


AAC Track Athletes of the Week

Wyatt Wilson - Montreat - Junior - Shelby, N.C.

  • Hit the NAIA 'B' standard in the 5000 race walk at the Montreat College Open.
  • Posted a time of 25:24.19 to place fifth in the event.
  • Broke the school record in the event and took 11.63 seconds off his personal best.
  • This is his first weekly award this season.
