Week 1: AAC Men's Outdoor Athletes of the Week

WALESKA, Ga. - Austin Mathias of Truett McConnell and Dario Laing of Columbia International are the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Outdoor Field and Track Athletes of the Week, the league announced Monday.

This is the first edition of the weekly honors for the 2024 season. The next set of awards will be announced on March 18.

AAC Field Athlete of the Week

Austin Mathias - Truett McConnell - Senior - Marietta, Ga.

  • Placed second in the hammer throw at the CAU Panther Track & Field Classic.
  • Had a toss of 45.43 meters.
  • This is his first weekly honor this season.


AAC Track Athletes of the Week

Dario Laing - Columbia International - Sophomore - Linstead, St. Catherine, Jamaica

  • Hit the NAIA 'A' standard in the 110 hurdles at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge.
  • Won the event with a time of 14.50 seconds.
  • His time currently leads the NAIA.
  • This is his first weekly award this season.
