Milligan Wins Its First-Ever Indoor Track & Field Championship
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Milligan won the 2022 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Indoor Track & Field championship on Friday.
This is the Buffaloes' first-ever indoor title, breaking Montreat's streak of four consecutive titles.
Milligan won with 187 points, edging Montreat which finished second with 181 points. Reinhardt (135), Tennessee Wesleyan (103), and Columbia International (50) round out the top five. Making up the rest of the field are Union in sixth (31), Columbia seventh (26), Bluefield eighth (22), Bryan ninth (16), SCAD Atlanta 10th (9), and Kentucky Christian 11th (7).
Here are the individual award winners:
- Men's Freshman of the Year: Bryn Woodall, Milligan
- Men's Track Athlete of the Year: Will Stockley, Milligan
- Men's Field Athlete of the Year: Dustin Blevins, Montreat
- Men's Newcomer of Year: Dandre Lieth, CIU
- Staff of the Year: Milligan
A total of nine meet records were set. They were:
- 600 meter run – Logan Ray (Reinhardt), 1:21.78;
- 1 mile run – Stockley (Milligan), 4:17.36;
- 3000 meter run – Woodall (Milligan), 8:23.32;
- 5000 meter run – Aaron Jones (Milligan), 14:44.68;
- 4x800 relay – Reinhardt, 8:01.78;
- Distance medley relay – Milligan, 10:16.10;
- Long jump – Blevins (Montreat), 7.39 meters;
- Triple jump – Blevins (Montreat), 14.76 meters;
- Shot put – Deandre Leith (Columbia International), 16.00 meters.
Everyone that placed in the top three of an event earned All-AAC honors.
