TWU Finishes as NAIA Men's Tennis Runner-Up
MOBILE, Ala. - What a ride!
The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) only had one team in the 2023 NAIA Men's Tennis National Championship, but the Tennessee Wesleyan carried the mantle well as it made it all the way to the championship match.
Entering as the No. 4 seed, Tennessee Wesleyan received a first-round bye before dispatching No. 20 McPherson (Kan.) 4-0.
In the quarterfinal round, Tennessee Wesleyan extinguished the Fire of Southeastern with a 4-2 decision. The Bulldogs, then, pulled off a big upset as they downed top-seeded Keiser 4-2 in the semifinal round to advance to their first-ever national title match.
Unfortunately, Tennessee Wesleyan was unable to come home with the top prize as No. 2 Georgia Gwinnett posted a 4-0 victory.
The Bulldogs finished the year with a 22-2 overall record.
