TWU Captures Men's Tennis, Women's Tennis Regular-Season Titles

WALESKA, Ga. - Tennessee Wesleyan captured both the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) men's and women's regular-season championships, and both teams will enter the the 2023 AAC Tennis Tournaments as the No. 1 seed.

The 2023 event begins on Thursday and concludes on Saturday at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn. The men's matches will all begin at 10 a.m. ET, while the women's will begin no earlier than 2 p.m. ET each day.

The top eight teams in men's and women's tennis advance to the tournament. The women's field is complete, and the bracket is set.

Here are the women's tournament seeds and tournament schedule:

  1. Tennessee Wesleyan
  2. Union
  3. SCAD Atlanta
  4. Brenau
  5. Reinhardt
  6. Milligan
  7. Truett McConnell
  8. Johnson

Thursday, April 13 - All Matches will begin no earlier than 2 p.m.
Match 1 - No. 1 Tennessee Wesleyan vs. No. 8 Johnson
Match 2 - No. 2 Union vs. No. 7 Truett McConnell
Match 3 - No. 3 SCAD Atlanta vs. No. 6 Milligan
Match 4 - No. 4 Brenau vs. No. 5 Reinhardt

Friday, April 14 - All Matches will begin no earlier than 2 p.m.
Match 5 - Match 1 Winner vs. Match 4 Winner
Match 6 - Match 2 Winner vs. Match 3 Winner

Saturday, April 15 - Match will begin no earlier than 2 p.m.
Match 7 - Championship Match - Match 5 Winner vs. Match 6 Winner

Here are the men's tournament seeds:

  4. Montreat*
  5. Milligan*
  6. Bluefield*
  7. SCAD Atlanta
  8. Point

*-Montreat, Milligan, and Bluefield all finished the regular season with a 6-4 conference record. Each went 1-1 against one another, so to break the tie, individual matches won among the tied teams were used. Montreat won 9 individual matches to claim the No. 4 seed, Milligan won 7 to earn the No. 5 seed, and Bluefield won 5 to land the No. 6 seed.

Match 2 - No. 2 Union vs. No. 7 SCAD Atlanta

Montreat and SCAD play on Monday at 2 p.m. The updated seeds and tournament schedule will be announced following the match's conclusion.
