Tennessee Wesleyan Collects Men's Tennis Tournament Crown
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Although it won 4-0, No. 1 seed Tennessee Wesleyan had to fend off a pesky Montreat team to win the 2022 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Tennis Tournament championship.
The tournament is being held at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Tennessee Wesleyan scored the doubles point by winning the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches by the identical score of 6-4.
The Bulldogs won the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches to increase their lead to 3-0. Zoilo Rios secured the win for Tennessee Wesleyan as he scored a three-set victory at No. 6 singles, winning 6-0, 4-6, 6-3.
This is Tennessee Wesleyan's second consecutive tournament title.
With the win, Tennessee Wesleyan earned an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championship Tournament, which is set for May 17-21 in Mobile, Ala.
