Gilbert's National Title Highlights AAC's performance at NAIA Swimming Championships
COLUMBUS, Ga. - The 2022 NAIA Men's Swimming & Diving Championship Meet took place recently, and several from the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) made a big splash.
In the team competition, Milligan led the pack with a fifth-place showing as it tallied 289 points. WVU Tech placed 11th with 99 points, and Union collected six points for a 21st-place finish.
Individually, Stephen Gilbert of Milligan headlined the AAC contingent as he won the 400 IM. In addition to being crowned the national champion, Gilbert set the NAIA record in the event with a time of 3:51.08.
A total of nine different individuals earned NAIA All-American honors.
The honorees from Milligan are:

- Perkowski, Ben Hawkins, Bazzana, Gilbert – 200 Medley Relay – 3rd, 1:32.01
- Perkowski, Aubin Dulin, Bazzana, Gilbert – 400 Medley Relay – 4th, 3:21.51
- Cole Brusher, Bazzana, Perkowski, Gilbert – 200 Free Relay, 4th, 1:23.13
- Brusher, Bazzana, Perkowski, Gilbert – 400 Free Relay – 3rd, 3:03.92
