MARIETTA, Ga. - It was anything but easy, yet the top two seeds advanced to the championship game of the 2024 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Lacrosse Tournament.
Top-seeded Reinhardt needed overtime to get past No. 4 seed Cumberlands 7-6, while No. 2 seed Keiser closed out the game strong to outpace No. 3 seed Webber International 12-10.
The semifinal and championship rounds are being played at Lupo Family Field on the campus of Life in Marietta, Ga.
Cumberlands led Reinhardt 4-3 at the half. The Eagles outscored the Patriots 2-0 in the third for a 5-4 lead going into the fourth. Down 6-5, Will Rogers found the back of the net to pull Cumbrelands even at 6-all with 1:35 left in regulation. In overtime, Brady Hanak scooped up a groundball and fired a shot, scoring the game-winner with 2:00 remaining on the clock.
Hanak and Cameron Cochran led Reinhardt with each netting two goals and dishing out an assist. Liam Wright made 11 saves in the win. Rogers posted two goals and two assists for Cumberland with Michael Toohey recording 18 saves.
Keiser and Webber went back-and-forth the entire contest with neither leading by more than two goals. Kye McCarron pulled Webber even at 10-all with 8:26 left in regulation. However, Braeden Niemy netted the eventual game-winner with 5:52 remaining, and JP Prather added an insurance tally with 2:26 to go.
Kegan Hufford led the Keiser attack with four goals, and Prather helped out with three goals and two assists. Chase Jackson dished out three assists for Webber as three Warriors collected two goals apiece.
Reinhardt and Keiser will face off for the title on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
