Cumberlands, Keiser Advances to Men's Lacrosse Tournament Final

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - There was a massive comeback and a defensive performance for the ages in the semifinal round of the 2023 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Lacrosse Tournament on Friday.

The final two rounds are being hosted by Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky.

In the first semifinal game, No. 4 seed Cumberlands overcame a four-goal deficit to upset No. 1 seed Reinhardt 12-11. Meanwhile, Christian Tomei registered 17 saves in leading No. 2 seed Keiser to a 10-2 win over third-seeded Webber.

The championship game is set for Saturday at 3 p.m.

CUMBERLANDS 12, REINHARDT 11

Reinhardt led all throughout the game and owned an 11-7 lead with 6:18 to play. Then, Cumberlands mounted a massive rally. The Patriots scored the final five goals to claim their first lead of the game.

Will Rogers scored with 2:40 to play to pull Cumberlands even at 11-all. He then scooped up a loose ball near the goal and put it in for the game-winner with 1:19 remaining.

Reinhardt was able to muster only one more shot, but it sailed wide as Cumberlands pulled off the upset.

Rogers, Maalek Wilson, and Chrystian Coleman each had three goals for the Patriots.

KEISER 10, WEBBER 2

Keiser netted five goals in the first quarter and never looked back. Tomei took care of the rest as he made 17 saves to seal the win for the Seahawks.

Cole Stassi and Jack Gillen netted three goals and dished out one assist each.
