ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Top-seeded Reinhardt and No. 3 seed Cumberlands are set to meet in the 2022 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Lacrosse Tournament championship game as both proved victorious on Friday.
Reinhardt started the semifinal round off with a 12-8 win over fourth-seeded Keiser, while Cumberlands put on an impressive display in downing No. 2 seed Tennessee Wesleyan 12-2.
In Reinhardt's victory, the Eagles used a strong third quarter to seize control of the match. Reinhardt played much of the first half from behind but evened the ledger at 5-all by halftime. The Eagles outscored the Seahawks 5-1 in the third to open up a 10-6 advantage. Both teams each netted a pair of goals in the fourth to make the final 12-8. Cameron Cochran had three goals and two assists for Reinhardt, while teammate Brady Hanak added three goals and one assist.
Cumberlands shut out Tennessee Wesleyan through the first three quarters and led 9-0 going into the fourth. The Bulldogs scored twice in the fourth but it was not enough as the Patriots won 12-2. Christian Vanover deposited three goals to go along with an assist to lead Cumberlands, and Will Settle recorded 11 saves on 13 shots.
