WALESKA, Ga. - The Reinhardt Eagles continue to soar as they defeated No. 2 seed Cumberlands 10-3 in capturing the 2021 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Lacrosse Tournament championship on Saturday.
The semifinal and final rounds were held on Reinhardt's campus in Waleska, Ga. In the semifinal round, Cumberlands defeated No. 3 seed Tennessee Wesleyan 14-5, while top-seeded Reinhardt downed No. 4 seed St. Andrews 26-4.
This is the fifth consecutive tournament title for Reinhardt.
Reinhardt opened the game with four first-quarter goals for the early advantage and took a 5-1 lead into the half. The Eagles led by as much as 7-1 and then 9-2 on its way to the seven-goal victory.
Zane Anderson, Tyler Chavous, Kyle Banks, and Dillan Bousquet each netted two goals for the Eagles.
Reinhardt goalkeeper Matt Webb recorded 14 saves in the title game, earning him Tournament MVP honors. Joining him on the All-Tournament Team are Anderson, JR Sess, and Fisher Nuss of Reinhardt; Jake Morgan, Christian Vanover, and Chrystian Coleman of Cumberlands; Patrick DeMoss and Kyle Gasior of Tennessee Wesleyan; and Aldrich Cheng of St. Andrews.
With the tournament title win, Reinhardt earns an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championship Tournament, which is set for May 5-8 in Savannah, Ga.
