Truett McConnell Cards Men's Golf Championship
ADAIRSVILLE, Ga. - Truett McConnell posted a strong final round to win the 2024 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Golf Championship on Tuesday.
The two-day, three-round event was held at the Barnsley Gardens Resort in Adairsville, Ga.
After two rounds, Truett McConnell sat in second, four strokes behind leader Tennessee Wesleyan. However, the Bears fired a 298 during the final round to win by eight strokes.
Truett McConnell finished with a 38-over 902 with Tennessee Wesleyan finishing second at 46-over 910. St. Andrews (031), Reinhardt (932), and Milligan (951) round out the top five.
Making up the rest of the field are Columbia International (952), SCAD Atlanta (966), Pikeville (967), Montreat (985), Bluefield (990), Bryan (1019), Columbia (1037), and Union (1124).
Nate Thorton of Truett McConnell shot back-to-back rounds of 1-under 71 to claim medalist honors as he finished with a 3-over 219. He edged Josh Loveday of Tennessee Wesleyan by one stroke. Joining the duo on the All-Tournament Team are Ty Beasley of Milligan, Peyton Shedd of Truett McConnell, and Jackson Stone of Truett McConnell.
The All-AAC Team and awards were also announced at the conclusion of the championship, and Thorton was named the Player of the Year. Andrew Haarlow of Columbia International is the Freshman of the Year, and Steve Patton of Truett McConnell is the Coach of the Year. Truett McConnell is also the regular-season champion.
Making the All-AAC First Team are Thorton, Stone, Shedd, Beasley, and Chanc Willis of Reinhardt. Landing on the All-AAC Second Team are Haarlow, Paolo Forcellini of SCAD Atlanta, JT McKenzie of Tennessee Wesleyan, Francisco de Bethencourt of Milligan, Brayden Surface of Bluefield, Joe Britton of Tennessee Wesleyan, and Ty Cranford of Truett McConnell.
