WinWon AAC Men's Basketball Awards Announced
WALESKA, Ga. - The Appalachian Athletic Conference announced the 2024-25 Men's Basketball WinWon All-AAC Team and Awards on Tuesday.
Bradley Bunch of Pikeville is the Player of the Year. Handje Tamba of Milligan is the Defensive of the Year, Mason Lockhart of Johnson is the Newcomer of the Year, and AJ Baskerville of Montreat is the Freshman of the Year. Tigh Compton of Pikeville is the Coach of the Year.
The awards were voted on and selected by the men's basketball coaches of the AAC.
Bunch is fourth in the AAC in scoring at 19.8 points per game and second in rebounding at 9.8 rebounds per game. He also dished out 63 assists, had 24 steals, and blocked 24 shots.
Tamba finished fourth in rebounding at 9.0 rebounds per game and had 165 defensive rebounds. He led the league in blocks with 45 and had 18 steals.
Lockhart led the AAC in field-goal percentage at 61.9 while averaging 18.0 points per game. He also pulled down 8.9 rebounds per game and blocked 27 shots.
Baskerville is the top rebounder in the league, averaging 9.8 rebounds per game. He also posted 14.7 points per game and had 34 steals and 22 assists to his credit.
Compton led Pikeville to a 16-4 conference record en route to winning the regular-season championship.
Twelve players earned a spot on the All-AAC First Team with 12 making the second team. There are 10 members of both the All-Freshmen and All-Defensive Teams. Dozens of players made the grade to earn a spot on the All-Academic Team, while 12 were named to the Champions of Character Team.
