Sweany Named Assistant AD for Sports Communications at Milligan

MILLIGAN, Tenn. – Milligan University Director of Athletics Christian Pope is excited to announce the addition of Mr. Brendan Sweany as Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Communications.

"I'm honored to have been chosen to lead the charge in sports communications at Milligan University," Sweany said. "From the beginning of the hiring process, I felt a strong sense of direction and confidence in Milligan's leadership, which made the decision to accept the position that much easier when it was offered to me.

"I'd like to thank Director of Athletics Christian Pope along with Senior Woman Administrator and Head Volleyball Coach Doneva Bays for their hospitality and care throughout the hiring process. I can't wait to get started! Go Buffs!"

Since July of 2023, Sweany has served as the sports information director at Clarksville Christian School in Clarksville, Tenn. He began the implementation of the sports information department at the school and ran all home sporting events for all eight of Clarksville Christian's sports. In addition to overseeing the sports information department, Sweany taught two high school media arts classes, emphasizing journalism, graphic design, and web design.

Sweany was the sports information director at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan., spearheading all aspects of sports communications for the department's 17 NAIA athletic programs. He spent nearly two years at Southwestern from July 2021 to May 2023.

Sweany got his start in sports communications at Corban University in Salem, Ore., as an Athletic Communications Intern from August 2019 through May 2021.

A graduate of San Diego Christian College in Santee, Calif., was a two-way player for the school's baseball team as a utility infielder and a relief pitcher.
